Defence of doctoral thesis on vectors of Bluetongue
|
| Next Thursday, 8th April 2010, Nonito Pagès Martínez, researcher of the CReSA, will defend his doctoral thesis entitled “Culicoides biting midges: genotype characterization of potential vectors of Bluetongue in Catalonia and development of new diagnosis techniques” directed by Dr Fernando Rodríguez González and Dr José Ignacio Núñez Garrote. This work describes the design and validation of a battery of oligonucletotides with diagnosis purposes that allowed identifying up to 13 Culicoides species from the cryptic species group. Different PCRs techniques have been designed and validated for laboratorial diagnosis (one tube heminested PCR i multiplex PCR). The event will be held next Thursday, 8th April 2010, in the Sala de Graus of the Veterinary School of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, at 12:00 h.
