CReSA actively participates at the IPVS2010 in Vancouver

CReSA took part in the world swine congress with 39 scientific communications and a booth for the promotion of the 6th International Symposium on Emerging and Re-emerging Pig Diseases. This symposium will be organized by CReSA in Barcelona next June 2011.

A total of 2,608 delegates attended the 2010 International Pig Veterinary Society (IPVS) congress in Vancouver, Canada (18-21 July 2010).

Researchers and PhD students of the CReSA presented 39 oral communications and posters; among them, 9 communications on porcine circovirus diseases, 7 about swine Torque teno virus, 5 about the Porcine Respiratory and Reproductive Syndrome (PRRS), 5 about swine influenza and 13 regarding other topics (African swine fever, hepatitis E, Actinobacillus suis, etc).

CReSA had a booth for the promotion of the 6th International Symposium on Emerging and Re-emerging Pig Diseases that will be held next year in Barcelona (12-15 June 2011) and is chaired by Dr. Joaquim Segalés, researcher of the CReSA.

The CReSA booth was attended by people from the research and communication units of the center, as well as by people from Grupo Pacífico, Professional Congress Organizer in charge of the organization of the symposium. Besides being informed about several aspects of the CReSA and the Barcelona congress, many people participated in a lottery after filling out the pre-registration form. The prize for the first winner was a free trip, accommodation and registration to the Barcelona congress. The second prizes consisted on a free registration.

CReSA also was promoting the 2011 congress when present in the Talència (a research-boosting institution in Catalonia) booth during the last Expoaviga (Barcelona, 8-10 June 2010).
