The new General Director of Research visits the CReSA

Last March 2, 2011, Josep Maria Martorell, General Director General of Research of the Generalitat de Catalunya, and Carles Jaime, Vice-rector for Strategic Projects and Planning of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), met the members of CReSA Board.

The new General Director of Research attended the presentation offered by Mariano Domingo, Director of the CReSA. Three issues were remarked: the advantages of unique, high biological safety level (BSL-3) facilities in Catalonia, the strategic axis of the research in the center and the services for diagnosis, control and surveillance of diseases commissioned by the Government of the Generalitat de Catalunya. Some questions were also made by the researchers of the CReSA, as the future funding of the Catalan centers of research and the compromise of the new Government regarding the Union for the Mediterranean.

Josep Maria Martorell highlighted the excellence of research carried out in the CReSA and the efficiency of the resources employed.

The General Direction of Research, as a part of the Department of Economy and Knowledge of the Generalitat, has competences for planning, coordination and general promotion of scientific and technological research.
