Representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock of Morocco visited the CReSA

Last September 2012, 22nd, Dr. Abderrahman El Abrak, Chef de la Division de la Santé Animale de l'Office National de Securité Sanitaire des Produits Alimentaires (ONSSA, Rabat, Morocco) visited the CReSA facilities located in Bellaterra (Cerdanyola del Vallès).

Two representatives of the Departament d’Agricultura, Ramaderia, Pesca, Alimentació i Medi Natural (DAAM) also attended the visit: Mr. Joaquim Xifra (Subdirector General of Livestock) and Mr. Lluc Beltrán (Responsible for External Affairs).

Dr. Abderrahman El Abrak was interested in the activities carried out by the CReSA. Besides the visit to the laboratories, Dr. Joaquim Segalés (Director of the CReSA) and Mr. David Solanes (Services Director) discussed about the surveillance programs carried out in collaboration with the DAAM and the Support Service for Slaughterhouses (SESC) in collaboration with the Agència de Salut Pública de Catalunya (ASPCAT).

CReSA carries out surveillance and control plans for various diseases have been established as ordered by the DAAM:
  • Surveillance of avian influenza in Catalonia
  • Surveillance plan for the West Nile Fever virus
  • Advice and diagnosis for controlling and eradicating bovine tuberculosis
  • Bluetongue entomological surveillance program
  • Virological analysis
