The past 13, 14 and 15 of July 2016, the PORCIAMÉRICAS 2016 congress took place. It was the XVIII National Congress of the Colombian Association of Porcicultors in the city of Santa Marta, Colombia. On behalf of IRTA- CReSA, the Animal Health program director, Joaquim Segalés, presented a talk entitled "Emerging and reemerging diseases in pigs."

Also, during a satellite meeting he presented the pre-conference talk "Vaccination of pigs against type 2 circovirus" and participated in a workshop with diagnostic technicians of the Colombian Association of Porcicultors.

Antonio Velarde, director of IRTA’s Animal Welfare subprogram, also participated in the conference with the lecture: "Animal Welfare, more than an ally in swine production."

It is a biennial event organized by the Colombian Association of Porcicultors bringing together more than 1,000 pork industry professionals from Colombia and form throughout Latin America.
